Being a photographer, I love when women wear long dresses because it gives me something to work with. It adds movement and interest to the photo. My only tip is to avoid any crazy patterns as it tends to look funky in photos. Stick to solid colors or simple floral patterns are nice too. Try to follow a color scheme, like all earthy tones, or all pastel colors. Pick two to three colors and make sure everyone's outfits have one of the colors in it as its main color. For my guys, if your woman is wearing a pattern you should wear a solid color, and vise-versa. Its a simple and easy tip to follow.
If you are the bride to be, I always suggest finding your outfit first. Find a dress, shirt, romper, or whatever else you prefer to wear first, and then coordinate your fiance's outfit to yours. After all, the woman are usually the ones who are wanting these pictures anyway! Here are some helpful examples of coordinating outfits to get your creative juices flowing.
Already have something in your closet that will work? Perfect! If not, here are some dresses I absolutely love for photoshoots. Simple patterns, with light, subtle colors are the key for stunning photos!
